Credentials

After being raised on the ocean I knew the sea was my life. I first went to sea at the age of 16 and went to work for American President Lines. After a 1-year deployment I joined the United States Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard I served aboard icebreakers, high endurance cutters and lifeboat stations at Cape Disappointment and Yaquina Bay.

After tours on ships and lifeboat stations I went to work on a 220’ ocean going tug where we voyaged from South America, Bering Sea and the Far East.

My last tour at sea was on Oregon State’s University Research Ship “Wecoma” which included scientific research of whales to sampling the bottom of the ocean to name a few.  After going to sea for 40 years I had the opportunity to stay closer to home and start a whale watching business in Depoe Bay.
